Privacy and Data Protection (GDPR)

Ghent University, Department of Environment, located at Coupure Links 653 B, 9000 Gent, Belgium, is the controller responsible for the processing of personal data as outlined in this privacy policy.

1. Personal data we process

We process your personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide this data to us yourself. Depending on your actions on the website, the personal data we process may include, but are not limited to:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • IP address and location data (via cookies)
2. Purpose and legal basis for processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To process your job application
  • To be able to call or email you if necessary to perform our services (Legal basis: Performance of a contract).
  • Analyzing your behavior on the website to improve the website (Legal basis: Legitimate interest).
3. Retention period

We do not store your personal data longer than strictly necessary to realize the purposes for which your data is collected. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations under the RESCUE project (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

4. Sharing personal data with third parties

We do not sell your data to third parties and will only provide it if this is necessary for the execution of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation (such as the web hosting provider or email service provider with whom a data processing agreement has been concluded).

5. Your rights
